This clock is by John Clayton of Marple in North West England. The clock would have been very much a statement piece for the upper / middle class owner at the time.
It has an 8 day movement, striking the hour on a bell.
The case is of oak with walnut cross banding and inlay.
Its dial (face) is brass, with a silvered chapter ring, gilt no.13 spandrels and a matted centre with scroll work.
