The Columbia Model 109 portable would have been a much sought after gramophone during the ‘Roaring Twenties’. Columbia, one of the ‘Big Three’ gramophone makers, was a cutting edge company at the dawn of electronically recorded music. This particular gramophone is in very good condition with the motor fully overhauled, driven by a single spring. The turntable still has its original mat and the internal horn produces a truly amazing sound. All original parts with the exception of a new mainspring and replacement carrying handle. The outer case shows slight signs of wear as you would expect.
